Tan Madonnas was born from a deep love of surfing. My dad taught me to surf when I was a kid, and I’ve always known I was a beach girl at heart. Moving to San Diego in 2017, I finally found myself surfing consistently and knew I was exactly where I belonged. Yet, despite my passion, I often felt out of place in the lineup. Surrounded by guys, I struggled with imposter syndrome and a nagging sense that I needed to prove myself.

I created Tan Madonnas for the average surfer girl—the ones who love to surf and skate but sometimes feel hesitant about being beginners, making mistakes, or not fitting in. Here at Tan Madonnas we support each other, whether it's learning to surf a 1ft wave or 5ft wave, we're here to spend time in the ocean and have a good, little time with our friends.

While I don't have a background in fashion I have a deep passion for surfing and creating a great swimsuit that you can surf confidently in. Every thing from Tan Madonnas is something I have tested myself and would wear in any type of waves!

 

Sustainability

Supporting our women’s surf community also means supporting our environment. Since the ocean is our playground, we make every business decision with the planet in mind. We believe in transparency and sharing our sustainability commitments:

• We encourage slow shopping and only purchasing something you ABSOLUTELY love.
• We design with intention and create timeless pieces with subtle prints that won't go out of style by the next year.
• Our Spring 23 line and all future collections are constructed from Carvico ECONYL and Repreve, 2 sustainable fabrics that are made from recycled plastic bottles and fishing nets.
• We utilize digital sampling to minimize the sampling process and cut down on fabric waste.
• We use recycled mailers, recycled hygienic liners, and recycled garment bags.
  
• Our manufacturer is a Balinese woman-owned manufacturer in Bali, Indonesia where they use eco-friendly materials and employ sustainable practices.

Surfing is our passion and taking care of the beautiful environment that gives us this activity will always be a core pillar of our values.
